Hello! I’m Tristan Lauzon (he/him), a Montréal-based colorist working at Cineground, one of the city’s leading post-production houses.
Along the years, I’ve had the privilege of honing my craft under the guidance of Senior Colorist Marc Boucrot, whose work includes collaborations with filmmakers such as Jean-Marc Vallée, Gaspar Noé, and other influential voices in contemporary cinema. Through this experience, I’ve developed an intuitive and creative approach to color, one that is grounded in collaboration and a sensitivity to aesthetics.
Growing up among the enchanting hills and valleys of Mont-Tremblant, I developed an early appreciation for the beauty of the world around me. This naturally grew into an interest in still photography and, eventually, moving images. I first explored digital media before finding my way into analog photography, developing an appreciation for the process of shooting and scanning both 35mm and 120mm film for social media and print.
My studies at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema gave me a deeper understanding of filmmaking and the many ways images can shape a story. From there, my attention gradually shifted toward moving images, and I began finding my footing as a colorist. Having focused much of my work on fiction and documentary filmmaking, I’m drawn to creating impactful looks through subtle and precise adjustments. My approach considers not only the aesthetic qualities of an image, but also the role that color plays in shaping the larger emotional and narrative world of a film.
As someone who identifies as part of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, I also find it important to support projects by queer artists and to foster an open, welcoming, and safe environment for everyone I work with. I believe meaningful collaboration begins with giving people the space to express themselves freely. Throughout the process, I strive to ensure that every filmmaker and creative partner feels heard, respected, and understood.
